A great first outing in the Z3! After a long season of nagging problems last year we were thrilled with the performance of our Z3 in its first outing of the 2000 season. I took the car out for the morning practice on Saturday mainly to run-in the engine (off a fresh rebuild), experiment with pressures on our new Hoosier tires, and bed in new brakes. Then Patty qualified 2nd in SSB and 21st overall for the Regional race and finished 2nd in SSB and 10th overall! Click here for full Regional race results.
On Sunday Patty qualified 4th for the National race, but a full second faster than she'd run on Saturday. She got a great start and held her own on Pueblo's long front straight going into turn one. Throughout the race she picked up the pace passing several cars, duelling with close friend Bill Lamkin for several laps, and eventually finished 2nd in SSB and 8th overall! Patty is definitely adjusting to the new Hoosier radials quickly and ran less than a half-second off the Pueblo SSB track record! Click here for a full set of National race results.
